July's Creative Guest - Georgie Connely

When I created the July Moodboard I instantly thought Of one special lady that I have shared design teams with in the past. The colors fit her style so well! Please welcome Georgie Connely as our Guest.

Creative Guest Facts

Artistically, I am a lover of altered art, shabby chic, grunge, modern art journalling, paper crafting... okay, so I love most things. Anything arty/crafty/painty (is that a word..?), I adore it all!!! My biggest love is mixed media within any of these forms.

Colour entices me more than anything. From light and airy, to dark and gothic (and everything in between). I believe the way hues ebb and flow together is what really makes a project, and gives it that ‘wow factor’ and I adore how they are enhanced by mediums used beneath, around, or over them. The possibilities are beautifully endless…

Anything nautical, sea, beach theme is always incredibly inspiring to me. I loved the idea of creating an art journal page, something which I haven’t done yet before (or if I did I really don’t remember 🙂  ), but though Finn’s new art journal with the denim/canvas pages would be a perfect background to start.

I gave a clear coat of gesso to the whole page first, this was probably one of the most important parts, this stops the paint being completely absorbed in to the page.

I used Indigo Blu stamps and stencils to start the page and give the shape for the focal to go.

Loads of yummy mediums from Finn, Izinks and Prima were also used. Plus some chippies from Dusty Attic 🙂

I hadn’t had a chance to really delve into the Prima French Riviera collection but the focal image looked perfect for this theme. The children look like they’re collecting/hunting treasures from the beach and just reminded me of my childhood (and… ahem… a weekend not too long a go - hehe).

I have created a video if you wish to see my creative process.

Hugs
Georgie
